Postpartum Kits for New Moms

As an eleven-time-postpartum mom, I have come up with a reliable list of items to really help especially that first time mom. There's nothing like that first delivery and recovery for shocking the system. It can feel incredibly overwhelming. But, overwhelm is just underprepared, so a kit like this can go a long way to help. Here are links to the must-haves I give with brief explanations to go along with them:

  1. The basket itself is great because moms always need baskets. I would use one like this to keep diapers and wipes in on-the-go places, instead of only at the changing table.

  2. Epsom Salt - https://amzn.to/4xLpjZm

This stuff works wonders postpartum, especially if you use a little in the bathtub every time you go potty. Just an inch or so of water with a bit of this helps a ton!

  3. Sunflower Lecithin - https://amzn.to/4Aw144l

I learned about sunflower lecithin later in motherhood, and how great it is for preventing mastitis. 1-4 of these tablets a day works wonders!

  4. Pads to use with Iced Tea for healing - https://amzn.to/3VbMaju

After my first baby, the nurses introduced me to this hack of soaking pads in a bit of unsweetened tea, then freezing the pads and using them in your underwear. Great soothing relief.

  5. Nursing Pads - https://amzn.to/4yBUuYJ

She may or may not leave the hospital with some of these, but they are helpful, especially a few weeks into breastfeeding when she wants to get out of the house more.

  6. Cooling gel pads - https://amzn.to/4ACjKiA

Nursing is hard! It's hard everytime for me for a couple weeks, but that first go -around when you don't know what to expect, that pain is otherworldly! I've used these pads for relief for all 11 of my postpartum recoveries.

I hope these items will be a blessing to you and your new moms out there!
